At
this time, there
are 246 units that are occupied or 14% vs. 261 a month ago and 202 a yar prior.
July 1st started a series of large projects here
at VO. The water separation project is in full swing. Trenches
are appearing around the property and it can be a bit of an obstacle course
to get around. We are asking our residents who are on site
to be very careful when walking and biking around the property, watching
for the barricades and caution tapes. Often times when they are
in the process of opening a trench it will not yet be
roped off, so please take special caution to avoid these
construction areas. As soon as the pipe is laid a trench
will be filled in and they will work as quickly as possible.
Also there are trenches on many lots going
up to the existing valves. Again, take caution around these trenches. This project will take approximately three months.
The tree trimmers have started and will be
in the park for the duration of the summer as
they also will now finish the skinning of all the trees.
We have found this crew very easy to work with and doing
an excellent job thus far, so when you
see them out and about, say thanks. It’s a rare thing to find a good tree trimming contractor.
The Bar-b-que structure is slowly working its way through the red tape
of the approval process at both the City
and the County Health Department. As soon as we get the final stamp of approval, work will begin.
The lawn bowling court is going to have some
leveling work done on it this summer. Over the years the sand
has built up in the center, causing the outer lanes to
no longer be level and to slope off, making them unusable. A
large contractor that has built these greens and works primarily
on golf courses, will start this work during the third week
of July and we expect to see this finished in a couple
of weeks. They will then return several times
during the summer to monitor the sod growth and check for any areas of subsidence or leveling problems.
The Oasis
is undergoing a facelift. Next fall there will be new
carpet, a tile section so that residents will have a dance
floor for private parties, the kitchen will be tiled. The handymen will
refinish the cabinets and a new countertop and
sink will be installed. Teresa wisely has chosen a burgundy carpet to hide all those red wine spills!
The Venture Out web
site has a new rental/sales board up and running. You are
now required to register in order to post a notice. This was necessary due to
the thousands of spam mail that this site was getting each day.
In addition, we used the same format and started the first ever,
“Trash or Treasures” board for all of your garage sale items.
Both boards will be completely purged at the beginning of each month
as users of the board (during newcomer orientation meetings) have
told us how frustrated they are to go through the board
and find that all the ads are old and no longer valid.
Therefore this change will be user friendly for
the party who is seeking something, but will take more effort for the party that is posting something.
We hope you are all having a wonderful summer.
