Thanksgiving hostesses! Please
remember to pick up your turkey and stuffing from the Baja Bistro
today, Friday, November 21 between 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm. These
birds range between 20 and 24 pounds so they will take a bit of time
to thaw.
Tickets are still available for the Holiday
Teacup Luncheon. I understand a couple of wives are bringing
their husbands, so… guys… if this is something you’d like to attend
feel free to do so! We do have a few single seat tables also
available for those people who wish to attend but are not part of a
full table of eight. The menu, the entertainment and the
“servers” are again “primo” this year.
The Needham Twins are the featured band at the
November 21st Friday Night Dance. Join this entertaining duo as they
bring you a variety of music in the Buena Vista Ballroom from 7:30
pm - 10:00 pm. Tickets are $7.00 each and can be purchased from the
Activity Office or at the door.
To
help keep coffee expenditures down a donation box is located on
the coffee bar in the Baja Bistro. The suggested donation is
50 cents per cup of coffee with one free refill.
Thank you to the many residents who contributed
to the Operation Holiday program in which VO dove-tailed with Luke
Air Force Base in providing needed items and Christmas cards to our
troops overseas. The response was overwhelming and greatly
appreciated.
Articles for the November 28 edition of the
Out-Lines must be submitted to the Activity Office by noon, Friday,
November 21 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thank you to the Condo and Social Board
Directors and spouses for their outstanding assistance with the
Homecoming Celebration. A special word of thanks to the
Softball Association who grilled the burgers, manned the serving
line and ran the kitchen for this event. A phenomenal job by
all. Hopefully, next year, when the Maricopa County Health
Department extends final approval on the BBQ structure we will be
able to serve the Homecoming meal outside the Community Center and
negate the terrible lines experienced in the Baja Bistro.
My
favorite breakfast is a heaping plate of scrambled eggs, sliced ham,
hash browns, toast, juice and coffee. I’ll be darned if the Saturday
Breakfast crew won’t be dishing up that EXACT menu on Saturday,
November 22 from 8:00 am - 10:00 am in the Baja Bistro. All
for only $4.00. Now THAT’s a deal!
Mark November 25 on your calendar, come over to
the Baja Bistro during the Ice Cream Social and guess the weight of
the “live Turkey.” Only 50 cents a pop. The individual who
correctly guesses the exact weight wins a gift certificate from the
Honey Baked Ham Company and the next two nearest wins tickets to the
Davy Jones concert at Ft. McDowell on December 6. Guesses
accepted from 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm. Winners announced shortly
after 2:00 pm. Gobble… gobble!
The Electronics Club had another winner with
their first Enchilada Dinner of the season. I tell you, this
club, under the direction of Pat and Jack Rinaldo, is like a fine
tuned instrument when it comes to cooking up enchiladas.
In
an attempt to be fair to all residents, since Myron Summerfield is
the orchestra for the New Year’s Eve dance in the Ballroom this
year, only two non-residents guests will be allowed per household
when purchasing tickets at the lottery on December 3.
Remember Monday, November 24 is Venture Out
night at Fuddruckers. See the insert in todays Out-Lines for
details.
Copies of the poems read at the Veteran’s Day
program are now available from the Activity Office.
See you at Happy Hour this Friday, November 21
from 3:30-5:00pm in the Baja Bistro. BYOB and beverage glass. Light
snacks, ice and entertainment provided
.
